    Description: 
    A thirty-year old Dr. Thomas Dooley is seen standing, holding a nude infant in his proper left arm and placing his proper right hand on the shoulder of a young girl standing next to him. The barefoot young girl wears a short shift. She raises her proper left hand to the doctor's hand and holds the hem of her shift with her proper right hand. The sculpture is mounted on a two-tiered rectangular base.

    The sculpture commemorates Dr. Thomas A. Dooley (1927-1985), who served in Southeast Asia. The sculpture was a gift of the Notre Dame Club of St. Louis and the artist. For additional information see The Observer, Oct. 16, 1985 and Jan. 28, 1986. IAS files contain a copy of the foundry mark.
