A small concrete foot bridge leads to a circular arrangement of benches, paths, and walls in the center of which is a low semi-circular wall adorned with a bronze head of Kahlil Gibran. The head emerges from a group of branches, foliage, and several doves. A sidewalk leads from either side of the wall and joins another circular arrangement of benches at a slightly higher elevation than the wall. In the center of the benches is a small pool in the shape of an eight-pointed star. The benches are inscribed with the details of Gibran's life and quotes from his writings.

Sculpture was funded with one million dollars raised from private donations by the Gibran Foundation. The five-ton granite floors were cut in Italy. George Dickie was the project director for the landscape architects, Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum. Three cedars of Lebanon were included in the terraced setting for the memorial. IAS files contain a complete transcription of the inscriptions which appear on the benches. IAS files also contain a related article from the Washington Post, May 23, 1991, Washington Home, pg. 5.
