    Description:
Fountain installation consisting of architectural elements and plantings which are characteristic of the sixteenth-century Italian villas. The main element is a series of thirteen large, semi-circular basins over which the water falls in the effect of a cascade. Water flows from two terrace fountains and reappears in three columns of water and two shell spills in five niches which are located in the face of terrace retaining wall. Water continues from two basin and two spout overflows into a series of thirteen cascade basins which are graduated in size with large pools at the top and bottom. There are four grotesque mask spouts, four urn jets, two dolphin sprays, and eight jets of white water which freshen the large pool in the lower garden. Additional niches and shell overflows are located on the 16th Street side of the fountain. A recirculation system for the water is located in a control room under the great wall. The cascade is flanked by parallel walks, bordered by close plantings of shrubs.
