Description:
Relief of General George Washington on December 4, 1783 as he says farewell to the last of his officers who served him during the Revolutionary War. The scene takes place at Fraunces Tavern where three major generals, one brigadier general, and other officers and friends gathered to hear Washington's final toast to his officers. After which each personally bid farewell to Washington. In the relief, Washington is on the right side with two men behind him and several others facing him. One officer in the center approaches Washington. All are dressed in military uniforms.

SOS! surveyor was unable to complete the condition portion of the survey due to the height of the relief. Just above the relief is an American Eagle created by Solon Hannibal Borglum (IAS DC000099).
