    Remarks:
Commissioned by the City of Portland in 1891 for $400. Fountain was designed after a Rennaissance fountain, and was Portland's second piece of public art. No longer a working fountain, there was originally a figure of a boy holding either a fish or a torch. In the 1920s or the 1940s, the figure was broken and discarded. The fountain was restored in 1960. IAS contains an excerpt from the book "Festschrift: a collection of essays on architectural history," prepared by the Northern Pacific Coast Chapter, Society of Architectural Historians.
