Description:
A bronze "seedling" inside a hollowed-out section of a redwood log symbolizes "growth". Radiating from the central casting are a number of bronze shafts that pierce the log and extend for several feet to give a "sunburst" effect.

Remarks:
Donated by Standard Insurance Company. Artist states that the sculpture represents the seed and pulsating heart of a redwood tree, with the piercing rays pointing towards the new life in the center. "This is perpetual," he states, "the beginning and end of life, or to say it another way, there is no end and no beginning...." IAS files contain transcription of nearby plaque. IAS files contain a related unidentified article.
