Description:
Dante Alighieri (1265-1321) is depicted wearing long flowing robes of a scholar and a laurel wreath around his head. On his proper right side he holds a copy of his poem, the Divine Comedy, with both hands.

In 1921, Carlo Barsotti, the editor of Il Progresso Italiano-Americano, donated this replica of Ximenes' Dante monument located in New York's Dante Square (IAS 87870183) on behalf of Italian Americans.
