Description:
Fifteen discs imbedded in the sidewalk. The discs serve as markers which mark the mile, half-mile and kilometer for 4.2 miles. The images on the discs include a headless winged creature, abstract human forms and aquatic, celestial and organic forms which represent Tampa's natural environment.

Remarks:
Commissioned by the City of Tampa's Art in Public Places Project for $10,000 in cooperation with the Tampa Public Works Department, Transportation Division. Nelson Construction assisted with the installation. IAS files include the exact location of each marker, a brochure from the Art in Public Places Project, press release, specifications sheet and pertinent correspondence from the Project, related documents from the artist and contractor, an accession record and related articles from the Tampa Tribune and other local publications.
