Inscription:  (Vertically on lower right of pole:) ROSTRON (On plaque on base:) TO HONOR ALL/NATIVE AMERICAN/VETERANS/NOVEMBER 1990 signed Description:  A colorful painted totem pole with carvings of animals native to Florida including an eagle, an alligator, a raven, and the Florida Brown bear. The sculptor was a Manual Arts Therapist in the Rehabilitation Medicine Service at the hospital. Idea for sculpture suggested in 1979 by Richard A. Silver, then Director of the facility. Artist was assisted by other volunteers and by patients. IAS files include two newsletters which contain related articles, the University of South Florida's "USF Health Services News," Dec. 13, 1990, pg. 1 and the hospital's "Tampa Tropics," Jan. 1991, pg. 1.
