    Remarks:
IAS files contain related newspaper clipping from Washington Post, Nov. 10, 1984. The statue by Hart and entrance flagstaff were designed in response to initial public criticism over the abstract Vietnam Memorial designed by Maya Lin. Cooper & Brown designed the setting for the statue and flagstaff. The memorial was funded through the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund organized by Jan C. Scruggs. The memorial was authorized by Congress on July 1, 1980. IAS files contain an excerpt from Jannelle Warren-Findley's Aug. 1, 1985 report for the National Park Service entitled, "A Guide to Selected Statues, Monuments and Memorials," National Capital Parks - Central, National Park Service, Washington D.C. (RFQ 3-4-1919) which includes a few notes to additional information found in National Park Service files. IAS files contain a short note from the Washington Post, July 8, 2010, pg. B2 describing restoration funded by National Park Service and private donors, and subsequent unveiling on July 8, 2010.
