Description:
Standing Union soldier high atop a pedestal. He holds a rifle in his proper right hand and proper left hand is shading eyes as he looks into the distance. Weaponry includes revolver on proper right hip, sword on proper left hip and cartridge box on belt. On front of pedestal in relief is a bronze eagle and portrait of John T. Vawter, and on the rear is a flag. All four sides have a bronze lion's head spewing water into a semi-circular fountain basin.
