JEFFREY, M.D., RAWLINS--WYO., DONOR/ROBERT I. RUSSIN, SCULPTOR signed Description:  Bust of Abraham Lincoln mounted atop a tall rustic shaft of mortared granite. Bust is hatless, wears jacket, high-collared shirt, and tie. Situated on an overlook in the Laramie range, at the summit of the old Lincoln Trans-Contintental Highway. Subject:  Portrait male -- Lincoln, Abraham -- Bust Occupation -- Political -- President Object Type:  Outdoor Sculpture -- Wyoming Sculpture Owner:  Administered by State of Wyoming, Wyoming State Museum, Barrett Building, 2301 Central Avenue, Cheyenne, Wyoming 82002 Located Wyoming State Park, Albany County, Interstate 80, North side, Summit rest area between Cheyenne & Laramie, Wyoming Remarks:  Construction of the statue was financed by Dr. Charles Jeffrey Rawlins in 1958. Russin produced the sculpture in Mexico; his four-foot working model is now in the Gettysburg National Museum, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The sculpture was cast by Russin in 63 plaster sections prior to its final casting in bronze by Fundicion Artistica in Mexico City. The sculpture was originally sited on the north side of Interstate 80, but in 1968 was moved at the sculptor's request another site half a mile to the west, on the south side of the highway; relocation was necessitated by planned alterations to the roadbed by the Wyoming Highway Department.
