A crouching male lion with his head upraised and his eyes wide open. His tail is draped over his proper left back paw. The figure is set on a limestone block base.

IAS files contain a copy of the Washington County Press (Salem, IN), dated either Feb. 14th or Feb. 24th, 1972. The lion originally sat on the steps of the old bank building, but later moved to his position on the sidewalk in front of the bank on the east side of the square.
