    Description: 
    Figure of a young boy in a loin cloth of feathers, standing on a lily pad, leaning to the proper right, playing pan pipes close to his chest. There is a Jay bird perched on his proper left shoulder, looking into the boy's face. The figure is set on a low pedestal in the center of a bird bath.

    Remarks: 
    IAS files contain a copy of an unidentified newspaper article discussing the relocation and preservation of the monument. The piece was originally located at Columbus High School, now a junior high school, and stood in front of the entrance from 1924 until 1979; when, due to vandals, the statue was moved. It is now located at Henry Breeding Farm, near Taylorsville, IN. The piece was made in memory of Mary L. Veach, a teacher and a nature lover. It was donated by the Nature Study Club of Columbus, IN.
