    Remarks:
The original Syrinx wood sculpture, with its companion Pan by Myra Reynolds Richards was dedicated in 1923. Both pieces disappeared -- the Syrinx in 1959 -- and the Parks Department commissioned Adolph Wolter to replace them in 1973. IAS files contain a copy of the Indianapolis Star (Indianapolis, IN), July 22, 1971, discussing Adolph G. Wolter as the artist chosen to replace the stolen statues. Nomination form, National Register for Historic Places, University Park, on file at Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana.
