    Remarks:
Sculpture was a gift of the Twentieth Century Club, Washington, D.C., in 1975. Although both the zoo cataloging sheet and the 1993 SOS! survey indicate that the presentation of the sculpture was held on October 7, 1979, a memorandum inviting Dr. Dillon S. Ripley, Secretary of the Smithsonian, to the presentation notes the date as October 7, 1975. IAS files contain a copy of the Sept. 8, 1975 memorandum inviting Dr. Ripley to the presentation; a copy of the National Zoological Park's 1988 cataloging sheet; and an unidentified article with a photograph of children climbing on the sculpture.
