    Description: 
    A cross-section of the city is depicted, looking from the lake to the interior. Includes images of Milwaukee harbor lighthouse and lighthouse keeper; seaman on a Great Lakes freighter; workman on a grain elevator; businessman and woman outside First Wisconsin Center; painter at City Hall; bank, German-Polish house, farmhouse, farm couple, cow, and mailman. The figures are hot-forged or blacksmithed and painted with gloss enamels. The I-beam on which they are placed is supported by three steel arches.
