Description:
Four relief panels located at each abutment of the bridge depict four modes of travel --locomotive, plane, ship, and automobile. Each panel features a nude Neoclassical figure with symbols indicating the type of travel represented in the relief. For locomotive travel, a nude male figure rests atop a train wheel. For plane travel, a nude male figure wears a flight helmet and goggles, and an airplane wing is in the background. For ship travel, a nude female figure rests on a anchor amid waves, and a small ship is in the background. For automobile travel, a nude female figure hovers along the side of a automoble.
