    Remarks: 
    The sculpture was commisioned on April 26, 1894, and was accepted by the committee in 1891. It was originally installed in a garden at the University. Bitter designed the base with bronze reliefs on all four sides. A second version of this figure was cast for the Free Library of Philadelphia in 1926.
