    Remarks:
The Fine Arts Commission accepted the design for the relief in July 1951; the building was dedicated Oct. 1, 1953. The inscription between the two figures was taken from a telegram written by Clara Barton, founder of the American Red Cross. Clara Barton took the line from a poem by a writer named Harvey. The rest of the poem reads "I am with the starving, I am with the happy." The nurses symbolize the disaster relief work of the Red Cross.
