The figures of the shepherd and shepherdess are each standing on a separate base and are installed about 35 feet apart in a private courtyard behind seven colonial townhouses. The shepherd is a young male wearing colonial attire consisting of a hip-length jacket, a wide-brimmed hat, a loose shirt, knickers with buttons and bows, stockings, and buckle shoes. His long hair falls about his shoulders. He stands with his legs crossed at the ankles. In his proper right hand he holds out a tall staff with a hook at the end. The shepherdess is a young female wearing a wide-brimmed hat, buckle shoes, and a short-sleeved, ankle-length dress which has a small bustle in the back and decorative lacing in the front. In her proper right arm she holds a lamb against her hip. Her proper left arm is bent at the elbow and in her hand she holds a flower. Her hair is pulled back away from her face and her face is turned to her proper left.

    Remarks:
Both sculptures are copies by an unknown artist possibly after works by Antoine Watteau. The lamb and the right forearm of the shepherdess are replacements made of fiberglass. The repairs were made ca. 1983-85.
