    Description: 
    Standing bronze figure of a nude female representing the Spirit of the Missouri River. She holds a net in her upraised hands. Nine fish are spilling out of the net. The figure stands on a bronze pedestal which is set in a circular pool. Two more oval pools extend southward from the main pool. This series of three pools is slightly tiered, so that the circular pool is tallest, and the southernmost oval pool is shortest.

    The pedestal and the pools were designed by Hare & Hare, landscape architects. John Murphy of Keene, Simpson & Murphy also assisted with the pedestal and pools. (Bronze plaque reads:) THE MUSE OF THE MISSOURI/By Wheeler Williams NA/This fountain presented to the Citizens of Kansas City in/memory of Lt. David Woods Kemper who was killed in action/leading his platoon against the German forces in World War II.
