Description:
"Sculpture is in the role of a gateway under which pedestrians pass on a main campus walk. Predominant forms are large cylinders, 17 ft. 6 in. in diameter. Two meet the ground, one diagonal, one vertical. Atop the vertical lays a horizontal cylinder -- each of same approximate dimensions. The fourth shape is atop and spread over the other three. It is an inverted V and two cylinders are joined at the bend. Paint color is bright red."

Funded with a National Endowment for the Arts, Art in Public Places grant of $40,000 given in 1975 to the University of Pennsylvania. Additional funding was provided by the one per cent for art program agreed upon between the University of Pennsylvania and the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority. The inscription on a nearby marker reads: Covenant/By Alexander Liberman/Dedicated November 4, 1976/The trustees of the University of Pennsylvania in accordance with their agreement with the redevelopment authority of the city of Philadelphia, Pa.
