The sculpture was commissioned with Percent-for-Art funds. The inscription on two nearby plaques reads: LOUISE/NEVELSON B. 1900/TRANSPARENT/HORIZON. IAS files contain an excerpt from "Art and Architecture at MIT: A Walking Tour of the Campus," Committee on the Visual Arts, 2nd ed., Sept. 1988, pg. 79-80.
