    Remarks: 
    The sculpture was created by Barney Wells with Sid Atkinson. Wells was a student of Atkinson, who was the Flint Public Schools' artist in residence from 1974-1976. Sculpture was funded by a Mott Foundation grant. Wells donated it to the city and it was placed within the neighborhood in which he grew up. IAS files contain related articles from The Flint Journal (Flint, MI), June 26, 1977, pg. C2 and Nov. 24, 1983.
