Remarks:
Commissioned by Mrs. Lucille Cohn, a 1956 graduate and, at the time of commissioning, also a student at California State University, Sacramento, as a memorial to her late husband, Arthur Louis Cohn. A gift to the university, the sculpture depicts Cohn and his five-year-old goddaughter, Jessica Holloway, and honors Cohn's love for children. The artist, a student at the University, was selected in a campus-wide student competition. It is the artist's first commissioned work, and she used photographs of Cohn to sculpt the work. The statue is located at the University's Children's Center, and is sited so that children can interact with it. IAS files contain article from California State Hornet 51 (Sept. 29, 1992), pg. 3-4, and materials from an unidentified source.
