Description:
Bronze full-length figure of a man golfing. He is posed at the height of the swing, arms bent at the elbows, hands above his proper left shoulder. The sculpture sits on a stone pedestal base. On the front of the base is a bronze medallion with a bas-relief portrait of Sherwood Gillespy in proper right profile. There are bronze drinking fountains on either side of the base.

Remarks:
SOS! survey describes base material as marble; Rupp describes base material as granite. Gillespy was an ardent golfer, who introduced the idea of municipally owned golf courses to Seattle. There is a discrepancy in the spelling of Gillespy; SOS! survey cites "Gillespy", Rupp cites "Gillespie".
