Seated figure of Thomas Jefferson Scribner bowing a saw is installed on a square base. He wears a bowler hat and sits cross-legged with the saw in his lap. He holds the bow in his proper right hand and holds the end of the saw in his proper left hand.

Remarks:
The sculpture honors Thomas Jefferson Scribner, a local sawplayer who played near the sculpture's present site outside the St. George Hotel. The sculpture was originally installed in Scope Park and was moved and rededicated in 1993. Mr. Scribner was also a lumberjack and union organizer. He died in 1982 at the age of 83. IAS files include related articles from the City on a Hill Press, Nov. 2, 1978 and the Santa Cruz Sentinel, July 10, 1993.
