    Description: 
    A replica of a dory with oars set to rest at its sides. The dory is placed atop a rectangular-shaped base that is surrounded by shrubbery and a low chain link fence.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture was funded by proceeds from the Fishermen's festivals, the first being held in 1973. The sculpture was made from metal boat parts donated by local fisherman. The mold for the sculpture was designed by Malcolm Brewer and fabricated by Sonny and Tim Hodgdon. The sculpture was cast at the J. F. Hodgkins Foundry. The oars of the dory, set at rest, represent a lost fisherman. Nearby plaque lists names of fishermen lost at sea, dates, and names of vessels. The sculpture is lit at night and decorated at Christmas. IAS files contain related articles from the Boothbay Register, June 30, 1983; Oct. 13, 1983; and Oct. 20, 1983.
