Description:
A uniformed Confederate soldier stands at parade rest with both hands holding his rifle barrel, the butt of the rifle resting by his proper right foot. He has a moustache and wears a wide-brimmed hat, with a bedroll slung over his proper left shoulder and a canteen on his proper left waist. The soldier stands on a granite shaft with a square, graduated base, the bottom tier of which is concrete. The monument is set within a square planter with flagpole, and is lit by spotlights.

Remarks:
The monument was erected by the Llano County Chapter of the UDC. It cost $1,200, which was funded through contributions. The soldier was created by James K.
Finlay
and his two sons,
Jack
and Jim, who may have used their father as a model for the soldier. The monument was designed by James K.
Finlay
