    Remarks:
The monument memorializes all who served in the Civil War from Susquehanna County. It was constructed of local stone, the cornerstone laid on July 4, 1876. Architect Captain J. R. Lyons designed the base and Burns & White carved the sixteen tablets. The sculpture is a reduced size copy of the Gettysburg soldier exhibited at the 1876 Centennial, except that the Montrose soldier has his proper left foot forward instead of his proper right foot.
