    Description: 
    History painting depicting Major General Richard Montgomery dying in the arms of Major Matthias Ogden, while his two aides-de-camp, Captain Jacob Chessman and John MacPherson, lie dead on the ground in front of him. The figures of Lieutenants John Humphries and Samuel Cooper and Lieutenant Colonel Donald Campbell stand behind Montgomery. An Oneida chief, Colonel Joseph Lewis, raises a tomahawk over his head. In the lower left, Major Return Jonathan Meigs and Captains Samuel Ward and William Hendricks watch the scene unfold.
