Remarks:
The sculpture is a replica of The Homecoming statue (IAS record 78670001) installed in the Naval Heritage Center adjacent to the United States Navy Memorial in Washington, D.C. (IAS record DC000126). The sculpture is one of many The Homecoming statues installed around the country as part of the Statue Outreach Program of the United States Navy Memorial. The statue is dedicated to Navy families, and is Kirkland's heartwarming expression of family unity. The statue was funded through donations from local businesses and individuals who wanted to express their appreication to the families who also serve.
