    Remarks:
The consulting architect was Aymar Embury II who expanded on a plan for the fountain designed by Vonnoh. The bronze figures were vandalized (the boy's arm and flute, and the girl's hand, and a bird were stolen) the Central Park Administrator's Office had the sculptor John Terken restore the fountain figures in 1980. He remodeled the lost parts, which were recast at the Roman Bronze Works. The work was a gift of the Frances Hodgson Burnett Memorial Committee. A 1905 clay sketch of the fountain figures is pictured in the Gayle and Cohen publication. Inscription on a nearby plaque reads: FOUNTAIN GROUP GIVEN TO/THE CHILDREN OF THE CITY/IN THE NAME OF/FRANCES HODGSON BURNETT/1849-1924
In 1980, after the piece was vandalized, the boy's arm and flute, and the girl's hand and bird were remodeled and cast.
