    Remarks:
Gift of George Kemp to City of New York. Originally the sculpture was located on a high rock at the south end of the lake in Central Park. About 100 years after it was installed, according to Gayle and Cohen publication, the sculpture was vandalized and the figure's arm and the falcon were lost. The then Parks Department monuments officer, Joseph Bresnan and the sculptor, Domenico Facci, recreated the lost parts and the Parks Department had them cast in bronze. These parts were recreated with the assistance of old photographs. After the repairs were made, the sculpture was then reintalled in 1982. Gayle and Cohen publication provided 1875 as the original dedication date; SOS surveyor provided 1871, although noted that date was badly worn and hard to read.
