Description:
The door consists of two half-doors with four panels each illustrating with important events in the life of
Columbus
. Tiny niches along the border of the door are filled with statuettes of figures who participated in the
Columbus
story. Above the door is a semicircular transom illustrating
Columbus
landing in the New World. Around the transom, a border is decorated with nautical motifs, such as, anchors and rudders; figures around the outer rim of the
doors
represent Asia, Africa, Europe, and America.
