    Description: 
    A standing portrait of Pennsylvania's Civil War governor, Andrew Gregg Curtin, with his proper left hand holding the lapel of his jacket and his proper right hand holding a pair of gloves. The sculpture rests atop a square granite base adorned with two inscription plaques and two relief plaques. The relief plaque on the right side of the base depicts soldiers congregating around the Camp Curtin pump. The relief plaque on the left side of the base depicts the Camp Curtin hospital. Surrounding the monument is a post and chain fence.

    Remarks: 
    This sculpture of Pennsylvania's Civil War governor, Andrew Gregg Curtin, was erected by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in honor of the governor and in recognition of Camp Curtin, the former Civil War campsite named in his honor. The sculpture is installed on the former location of Camp Curtin, the land for which was acquired by Governor Curtin on April 18, 1861. Andrew Gregg Curtin served as governor of Pennsylvania from 1861-1867. IAS files contain a copy of the dedication program. The sculpture was restored in 1990.
