    Description: 
    Full-length standing male figure of Abraham Lincoln with hands clasped in front of him, the proper right hand on top of the proper left, and head bowed. He is bearded, wearing a double-breasted, three-quarter length jacket. He stands with his proper left foot forward on a 6 ft. base. The back of the base extends upward to serve as a backdrop to the figure. The Gettysburg Address is carved into this granite backdrop. Two eagles are carved into either side of the backdrop, facing outward.

    Remarks: 
    Commissioned by the State of Nebraska. Monument Committee: Abraham Lincoln Monument Association. Funded by private donations and gift of Daniel Chester French. Although the State of Nebraska had agreed to partially fund the monument, the funds did not come through, so French gave the sculpture to the State in return for retaining full reproduction rights. Henry Bacon was the architect of the base and setting.
