    Description: 
    Standing female figure, heavily draped. Her proper right hand originally held a quill (now missing); her proper left hand rests upon a rudder (representative of fortune and abundance).

    Formerly located at Chamber of Commerce Building/Milwaukee Grain Building, 225 East Michigan, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 1880-1909.
    Remarks: 
    The statue was commissioned by Edward Townsend Mix, who designed the Milwaukee Grain building where the statue originally stood. The work was commissioned in 1879-1880 and in June 1880 stood over the entrance to the Chamber of Commerce Building and Milwaukee Grain Exchange. In June 1909, the statue was relocated to Reynolds Grove (now Jackson Park). In 1991, the statue was restored. In June 1993, the statue was moved to an area just south of the lagoon in Jackson Park.
    A nearby plaque reads: "Rededicated to Civic Progress by the South Division Civic Association, June 25, 1925"
