Remarks:
The wood from which the sculpture is carved was cut in the 1940's by the late father of Jackson County District 1 Supervisor, Lum Cumbest, and is one of the few remaining cypress logs from the Cumbest Mill in Wade, Mississippi. The project was sponsored by the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce. Materials and aid were donated by the people of Ocean Springs. IAS files contain an article about the sculpture by the artist.
