    Description: 
    An Indian monument carved out of a 2000 year old cypress log, painted red. Face and neck of Native-American man with single feather headband. Man's hair is in two low pigtails. Feather is carved from a separate log, supported by ladder-like construction of a pole with horizontal logs between pole and back of feather.

    Remarks: 
    The wood from which the sculpture is carved was cut in the 1940's by the late father of Jackson County District 1 Supervisor, Lum Cumbest, and is one of the few remaining cypress logs from the Cumbest Mill in Wade, Mississippi. The project was sponsored by the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce. Materials and aid were donated by the people of Ocean Springs. IAS files contain an article about the sculpture by the artist.
