Description:
Four bronze relief panels mounted around the base of a black granite obelisk. The panel on the south side depicts a bare-breasted seated female figure in classical Egyptian clothing. The woman is shown in proper right profile and a young child stands on her proper left. She holds a staff in her proper left hand. A book lies in her lap and her proper right hand marks a place in the book. The panel on the east portrays a bare-chested seated male figure with books at his feet. His proper left elbow rests near a globe. An owl is in the upper left corner of the panel; a telescope in the upper right corner. The north panel depicts a female figure kneeling in prayer before an ornate cross. A kneeling child rests on her proper left knee. The west panel depicts Moses. He is seated and holds the tablets with the Ten Commandments. He has a beard and wears an Egyptian-style wrap. The obelisk stands in a fountain basin.
