    Description: 
    A fireman dressed in uniform, holding a fire hose in front of him. The figure is set within a Neo-Gothic base that includes a canopy of arches, crowned by a steeple.

    Remarks: 
    The monument to firefighters was designed and constructed by Charles Orleans, funded by the Firemen's Charitable and benevolent Association, in honor of its 50th anniversary. The statue of the fireman was created by Alexander Doyle, and carved by Nicoli. IAS files contain article on the cemetery from Mary Louis Christovich, ed., "New Orleans Architectural Series, Vol. III: The Cemeteries," Pelican Publishing Co., Gretna LA: 1974.
