    Description: 
    A bronze figugure of a Civil War soldier in military uniform, wearing a visored cap and carrying a rifle over his right shoulder as he marches with his right leg forward. He holds the butt of the rifle in his proper right hand and rests its barrel on his proper right shoulder. The figure is mounted on a two-tiered granite base with a rusticated finish and a bronze inscription plaque on one side.

    The monument was erected by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in honor of the members of the Massachusetts Infantry, Cavalry and Battery Artillery divisions who died in the Shenandoah Valley during the Civil War.
